Privacy notice
Your information, handled properly.
Last updated: 20 October 2026
The short version. We use publicly listed business contact details to offer you a website, and whatever you send us to do the work. We don’t sell anything to anyone, this website doesn’t track you, and if you ask us to stop contacting you, we stop.
Who we are
Fresh Page is a small website design business based in Johannesburg, South Africa. For the purposes of the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA), we are the responsible party for the personal information described here. For anything about this notice or your information, email sam@freshpages.co.za.
What we collect
- Business contact details we find publicly: your business name, website address, phone number, email address and area, as published on your own website or business listing (for example, Google).
- What you send us: your name, business details, logo, photos, wording and anything else you share when you ask for a demo or become a client.
- Records of our conversations: emails and notes of calls, so we know what was agreed and whether you’d like us to stop contacting you.
- Billing details if you become a client: what’s needed to invoice you and keep proper records.
We don’t collect special personal information (such as health, religious or biometric information) and we don’t need it.
Why we use it
- To build you a free demo website and offer it to you.
- To follow up on that offer a small number of times.
- To build, launch and look after your website if you become a client.
- To keep the records the law requires (for example, tax records).
We rely on our legitimate interest in offering our services to businesses whose details are publicly listed, on the performance of a contract once you’re a client, and on legal obligations where they apply (POPIA section 11).
Direct marketing and opting out
Every email we send includes a simple way to tell us to stop. Reply “stop”, or say so on a call, and we will not contact you again about our services. We keep a short record of your business name and contact details on an opt-out list for one reason only: to make sure we don’t contact you again by mistake.
We contact businesses during reasonable business hours and we never ask for payment details on a first contact.
Who we share it with
We don’t sell, rent or trade personal information. We only share it with the service providers we need to run the business, such as our email provider, Google (which runs our forms) and the company that hosts websites, and only so they can provide that service. Some of these providers may store information on servers outside South Africa; where that happens, we use providers that are bound by data protection rules that give a level of protection comparable to POPIA (section 72).
This website
This website does not use analytics, advertising cookies or tracking pixels.
The free demo form asks for your business name, your name, your current website, your email and (if you like) your phone number. We use these only to build your demo and contact you about it, and only once you’ve ticked the consent box.
The tips sign-up asks only for your email address. We use it only to send you our tips. Every tips email has a way to unsubscribe, or you can simply reply “unsubscribe” or email us, and we’ll take you off the list straight away.
Both forms are run on Google Forms, so what you type is stored in Fresh Page’s Google account. Google acts as our service provider and may store it on servers outside South Africa.
How long we keep it
- If you’re not interested: we delete your details within 12 months, apart from the opt-out record above.
- If you signed up for tips: until you unsubscribe.
- If you’re a client: for as long as we work together, and afterwards for as long as the law requires us to keep financial records.
Keeping it safe
We keep information in password-protected accounts with two-step sign-in where available, limit who can see it, and only collect what we actually need.
Your rights
Under POPIA you may ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to us using it, including for direct marketing. Email sam@freshpages.co.za and we’ll respond within a reasonable time. There’s no charge.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You may also complain to the Information Regulator: inforegulator.org.za, POPIAComplaints@inforegulator.org.za.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we handle personal information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
